Nijay K. Gupta (PhD, New Testament, University of Durham) is a professor of New Testament at Northern Seminary. Previously, he was a professor of New Testament at Portland Seminary, where he also oversaw the Master’s thesis program, and advises doctoral students.
He is the author of the book Worship That Makes Sense to Paul and Prepare, Succeed, Advance: A Guidebook for Getting a PhD in Biblical Studies and Beyond along with Bible commentaries and over a dozen academic articles in theological journals.

Meet Nijay Gupta, theologian, seminary professor, and author with a unique faith journey that began with his conversion from Hinduism to Christianity as a teenager. Nijay has since devoted his life to the study and teaching of the Bible, with a particular focus on women’s roles in the early church. Raised in a Hindu household in north central Ohio, Nijay Gupta’s life changed when he embraced Christianity as a teenager. Passionate about his faith, Nijay attended church multiple times a week and longed to be a missionary. This curiosity led him to seminary, where he discovered that the early Christian church was filled with strong, fearless women who held leadership positions.
